          Introduction to Folk Dance


 Every country in the world has its own dance tradition associated with its culture.  It is also a type of dance created and used by the rural people of those countries.  They are called folk dances.  Folk dance also shows the identity of a country.  Village dances reflect the thoughts, aspirations, beliefs, religions, livelihoods, experiences and beliefs of the villagers.

 Many folk dances are based on social background, livelihood and entertainment.  Below are some related folk dances.

 Uses simple movements for folk dance.  Even someone who has no formal training in dance can create dances using simple movements that can be attended to.  A unique feature is the inclusion of simple theatrical costumes, simple rhythms and chords and simple language.


 * Collectivity

 Performing folk dances requires the participation of many people.  Dancing in groups is a specialty here.  The verse dance takes place while maintaining contact with each other.
