Silambu used for traditional dances in Sri Lanka.

Silambu is a piece of jewelery worn in the costumes of the Kandyan dance tradition.  The ankles, which can be worn on the ankles, are made of small metal balls to create sound.

Silambu is an Indian word.  The meaning here is 'to make sound'.  When worn on the leg, it is called Kalchilambu in Tamil.

Silambu wearers make noise when moving or dancing.  It can be worn on the ankle or leg.

Chilambs are made of copper or silver, and iron balls are used to make sound.in ancient times, women in India, somewhat similar to the nauts, wore silambu and danced.

In the past, artists at the Indian Amman festivals used to hold the silambu in their hands and perform the dance called 'Kai Silambu Attam'.

Lord Shiva or Nataraj can sometimes be seen wearing anklets on his feet.

Silambu is also worn in the '' Theiyam '' dance in Kerala, India.
